Moonstone Beach in Humboldt County is famed for its unique rock formations and the chance to discover smooth, colorful stones. It’s part of Clam Beach County Park and is a hotspot for surfing, kayaking, and various beach activities.

Ian MacDonald
Suring Instructor
Ian MacDonald, is a recent graduate from Cal Poly Humboldt who enjoys any outdoor activities. He is a passionate outdoorsman who dedicates his free time to surfing, hiking, camping, and snowboarding. Raised on the central coast of California, near the beach, Ian has been surfing since childhood and has four years of experience as an ocean lifeguard. Ian has been instructing for Bigfoot Adventure Academy since June of 2023.

My name is Cal, and I've been calling Humboldt home since 2016. I graduated from Cal Poly Humboldt with a degree in Oceanography in 2023. Growing up in San Diego, I've been surfing for as long as I can remember- surfing with my high school team, competing, and going on to become a Beach Lifeguard for two years. For the past three years, I've been working as a surf guide here in Humboldt, and sharing my passion for surfing with others is the best part of my job.
